For its 16th consecutive year, the successful and well known both in a national and international level the YPERIA – International Convention on Culture and Tourism, continues its works on the beautiful island of Amorgos, Greece from October 31 to November 5. This year the theme of the convention is “GASTRONOMY – CULTURE & TOURISM”, as a tribute to the South Aegean Region as the Gastronomy Region of Europe 2019.
Representatives of Women’s Associations in the Cyclades and the Municipalities of South Aegean Region will present their products, their local flavors and dishes.
At the same time, the 9th International Amorgos Tourism Film Festival , established as a meeting point for young filmmakers and producers to come together from all over the world, continues its work. Just like every year, we expect a great number of participants: journalists, filmmakers, producers, photographers, reporters and tour operators. Α Film Academy will be organized for students and young people. Their films will promote the local cuisine, culture and spectacular beauty of the island.
This year there will be a Special tribute on the subject “ Youth &Employment, Women & Employment” presenting films , speeches and discussions . The tribute “Youth &Employment, Women & Employment” is implemented through the Operational Program “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” and is co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund) and Greek State. Its co-funded projects deal mostly with the improvement of education and employment in Greece. Its main targets relate to the development and promotion of human resources skills, activities against unemployment, strengthen social cohesion and social inclusion of vulnerable social groups, improvement of the quality of education & lifelong learning, awareness on environmental education, linking education with the labor market.
Every year the Festival awards the best tourism films and documentaries, selected by an international jury team. The Festival is an official member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals CIFFT. The Festival and the film tribute have free admission and are accessible to disabled people. The events are organized by the Cultural Association of Women of Amorgos in cooperation with the Municipality of Amorgos and the South Aegean Region.
