Vehicles that will not be allowed to enter Albania after December 2

The General Directorate of Customs notifies all citizens and businesses that on Dec. 2, 2018, DCM Nr. 633, dated 26.10.2018 “On measures against air pollution by discharges of motor vehicles and reduction of air emissions of gaseous pollutants and solid particles from positive ignition engines and compression ignition burning natural gas or liquefied for use in vehicles “.

This decision applies to motor vehicles of category M (M1, M2) for transport of persons and N (N1) for freight transport.

 

This decision does not apply to the import of:

a) Early historical vehicles of historical interest and collection, such as:

i. vehicles produced by December 1970;

ii. vehicles presented as a model of production up to 31 December 1970, regardless of the actual production year of a particular vehicle;

iii. vehicles, which represent technical or cultural technical values, traditional and social heritage.

b) Motor vehicles, which are imported from physical and legal entities, for the purpose of humanitarian aid, in accordance with national legislation governing donations and humanitarian aid.

 

In accordance with this decision, the vehicles to be imported into the Republic of Albania must meet the technical conditions related to the functional characteristics of the systems and equipment and their technical and physical condition, which should correspond to the vehicles as provided for below. These conditions are defined by instructions of the Minister responsible for transport.

Upon the entry into force of this decision, it is allowed to register for the first time for circulation in the territory of the Republic of Albania, motor vehicles and vehicles, which meet the following conditions:

a) New cars with zero km and not previously registered for circulation in any other country which meet the Euro 5 rate of the European Union;

b) Other new motor vehicles such as engines, buses, trucks of categories M2 and N1, zero kilometers and not previously registered for circulation in any other country which meet the Euro 5 rate of the European Union;

c) Used cars (all that are not zero kilometers and previously recorded for road traffic in another country that meet Euro 4) must have been produced no more than 10 years before the date of first registration in Albania;

ç) Other motor vehicles used as engines, buses, trucks of categories M2 and N1 (all that are not zero kilometers and previously recorded for road traffic in another country, which meet the norm Euro 3) must have been produced no more than 15 years before the date of first registration in Albania.
