On the first visit after the delegation of the powers of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Europe, Gent Cakaj, he attended the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union and candidate countries, which took place in Bucharest on January 31 – February 1, under the Romanian Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the EU. The discussions focused on the main issues of the European and international agenda, common challenges and cooperation in the field of foreign and security policy.
Acting Minister Cakaj, after praising the support of the EU member countries on the road to Albania’s European integration, noted the efforts and achievements so far in the process, expressing their determined commitment to their strengthening, as well as our expectations that membership talks are recognition of achievements and mechanism for their future orientation.
He also highlighted the pro-active and constructive role of Albania as a stability factor in the region, adding that in the global aspect, our country firmly attests its Euro-Atlantic strategic orientation and full alignment with the EU’s foreign and security policy.
