Congratulations on your appointment as the director of Global Woman Club Albania. What does this mean to you and how do you feel about it?
This appointment adds an exciting purpose for my time ahead in Albania. I have already grasped the opportunity having arrived in June and have taken the opportunity to connect and spend time with numerous inspiring women in Albania.
What is the story behind Global Woman Club Albania?
Global Woman Club started its story by bringing together immigrant and foreign women who were interviewed for a magazine called Immigrant Women. The group grew in numbers and evolved the new name Global Woman Magazine. This stirred the desire of the women to meet and support one another in London. This led Mirela Sula, the Founder and CEO of the brand inviting them to speak on stage. From this experience Mirela Sula said: “If you want to empower a woman, give her a microphone.”
Global Woman magazine has grown to be a high quality publication that connects professional women around the world and encourages them to raise their profile, increase their credibility and become visible to reach a global audience.
The need for further chapters of Global Woman Club to establish around the world became apparent and Mirela Sula soon found women to become directors of those clubs.
You can find out more about what’s happening in Global Woman Clubs around the world her:
New chapters are opening all soon in a continual process. Meantime, if there is not yet a club open near you join with an online membership.
What does it mean for you that the founder of the club is Albanian?
When I first knew I was relocating to Albania, I assumed knowing the Founder, Mirela Sula is Albanian and that there would be a club here. I was surprised to find there was not and even more surprised when Mirela met with me and discuss me becoming the Director of Global Woman Club Albania.
To be here at this time, I have already discovered the passion, drive and expertise of the Albanian culture and the exceptional skills and work ethic of many Albanians. I see women who have elevated themselves into influential roles and hold themselves as role models to peers and the next generation. The opportunities to mentor, encourage, learn and flourish holds no bounds. With encouragement to shift mindsets, embrace information technology, take self development courses and connect with like-minded women, the atmosphere shifts to bring a new Injection of enthusiasm, energy and open perhaps previously unconsidered doors to a myriad of possibilities.
I look forward to getting to know more of the women in Albania, their stories so far and being witness to their successes and progress.
How does your background and personal life influence you in this role?
For each of us, life’s journey and experiences shape and prepare our reaction to possibilities. I have lived in several countries around the world and immersed myself in differing cultures, continually being enriched by saying ‘yes’ to new challenges and experiences. None of us are ever the finished product are we? Therefore by taking ourselves out of our comfort zones and stretching ourselves to discover and acquire new attributes, we always learn more about ourselves as we unpack our unique treasures from within. For this role, I will be drawing on experiences from previous teaching and leadership roles whilst at the same time engaging to ultimately learn so much more myself.
When will Global Woman Club Albania launch? Would you tell us about Global Woman’s Club and how women interested can participate?
Global Woman Club Albania’s launch is the evening of Monday 2nd September from 18:00 at The Plaza Hotel. It is the finale of a day Global Woman Club Conference which commences at 09:00 the same day. Tickets for both events are available now and must be purchased in advance.
Global Woman Club is a rapidly growing, global organisation enabling and empowering women in their business and entrepreneurial opportunities. Women can connect through this unique platform with likeminded and driven woman around the world to create financial independence. Women champion one another, embrace their gifts, skills and talents – and have plenty of fun along the way.
Women are able to attend one meeting as a non-member and purchase a ticket to come and experience the club.
After this they should purchase their annual membership; with that secured, all future events of Global Woman become half price of the advertised ticket price and they are permitted to attend any events globally if able to travel to them.
What led you to work for and seek to empowered women and girls?
My own experience of being silenced and labelled as a young child, I needed to be turned upside- down and shaken a little as a young adult! This has happened throughout my journey around the world where I have witnessed some of the most oppressed and excluded women and coming alongside them to encourage and influence them to gain confidence and grow.
Realisation that nothing of our own story is ever wasted – In fact if we allow our story to continue to flow, we utilise those very experiences to come alongside others, stuck In their journey, with an empathy that only comes from situations that have brought understanding to human emotions through the adversity we have passed through ourselves.
What sort of impact do you intend to achieve as Regional Director of Global Woman Club Albania?
I thoroughly enjoy connecting women of all cultures and nationalities and them having moments of joy together as they discover how to learn and grow from one another’s stories.
I hope in this role to reduce the level of perceived cultural barriers and bring International Women to the Albanian women allowing mentoring and expansion of horizons to the Global arena.
I envisage that the Albanian chapter of the Global Woman Club will become a strong, large and active group on the global stage.
For that to happen if you are a woman and reading this, ensure you are there on Monday 2nd September to be part of the beginning of this exciting chapter.
How do you like the new life in Albania?
Albania has made myself, my husband and our two beloved dogs feel extremely welcome.
We both have jobs we immensely enjoy and are finding new places to explore as we navigate the city of Tirana as well as the coastal areas, countryside and mountains.
I am privileged and blessed to be here.
