In the framework of the National Strategy for Protection and Road Safety, the Albanian Road Authority, with the support of the World Bank, has started work to eliminate hazardous sites in Qafë Thana road axis.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, accompanied by the director of the ARA, Sonila Qato, inspected the works in one of these points, which due to the sliding of the skarpata had become a danger for the road users.
“The focus of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and of the Albanian Road Authority is fully in the Road Safety Strategy. This is an ax with added problems that we are intervening today, but as we have said, and in our previous inspections, our focus is on road safety and we will not align without solving all the problems we face today road axes “, said Minister Balluku.
Meanwhile, the ARA Director, Sonila Qato announced that the investment in question foresaw the intervention for the protection and reinforcement of the skarpata with retaining walls, ranging from 3 to 5 meters, for a length of nearly 82 meters linear.
“It is estimated by the consultants that it is necessary to intervene in order to make an investment for the protection and reinforcement of this sloping wall with a height of 3 to 5 meters for a length of nearly 82 meters linear. It is an investment that will provide this very important national axis for the circulation of common vehicles and heavy road vehicles for all drivers, but of course also for the maintenance of road infrastructure in this segment, “said Qato.
