Rama’s approval rating 43%; Basha’s 23%

Follow Business Albania commissioned a national electronic poll, conducted last weekend by Dr. Eduard Zaloshnja, who is a research scientist at Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation in the Washington, DC area. The sample of around 4000 interviewees was reweighted before calculating the results, in order to better represent the Albanian electorate politically and demographically. The maximum margin of statistical error for this poll is plus/minus 2.3 percentage points.

The poll shows that 43% of Albanian voters have a positive opinion of Prime Minister Rama’s performance since June elections; whereas 35% have a negative opinion (the remaining 22% either have a neutral opinion or did not respond to the question). This result means that around 900 thousand eligible voters in Albania have a positive opinion about Rama’s performance, while around 735 thousand have a negative opinion.

On the other hand, only 23% of Albanian voters have a positive opinion of Lulzim Basha’s performance since June elections; whereas 48% have a negative opinion (the remaining 29% either have a neutral opinion or did not respond to the question). This result means that around 480 thousand eligible voters in Albania have a positive opinion about the opposition leader’s performance, while more than 1 milion have a negative opinion.

Interviewees were also asked how they would vote, if the parliamentary elections were repeated today. Based on their responses and the results of June elections, it can be extrapolated that PS would get 770 thousand votes, PD would get 430 thousand votes and LSI would get 190 thousand votes (other minor parties would get in total around 40 thousand votes).
