In the framework of the implementation of the Agreement for the abolition of roaming services prices for public communications networks between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania, signed in Peja on 26.11.2018, on 11 May 2019 in Tirana was organized the meeting shared between the Steering Council of AKEP and the Steering Board of the ARKEP regarding the process of reducing roaming tariffs for citizens of Albania and Kosovo under this agreement.
The meeting discussed the benefits that the citizens of both countries will have regarding the reduction and the abolition of roaming tariffs, which will be applied according to the principles of the model previously applied by European Union countries “Roam Like At Home (RLAH) “. Both parties agreed that the tariff reduction process will start on June 15, 2019 initially through the application of the “RLAH +” model, a reduction that will bring immediate positive effects to the citizens of both countries, and subsequent complete lifting roaming tariffs for citizens of both countries, starting on 1 July 2021 in line and with the Regional Roaming Agreement when these tariffs are expected to be abolished even with the other four Western Balkan countries.
Also, members of AKEP and ARKEP expressed their utmost commitment to continue the process of reducing roaming tariffs under the RLAH model with other countries in the region in accordance with the regional agreement signed by the 6 Western Balkan countries on 4 April 2019 Belgrade. a reduction which will bring immediate positive effects to the citizens of both countries, and following the complete lifting of roaming tariffs for citizens of both countries starting from July 1, 2021 in line with the Regional Roaming Agreement when these tariffs are expected be removed even with the other four Western Balkan countries.
