On April 25, 2019, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, held a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, headed by Mr. Jan Kees Martijn, Head of Mission for Albania. This meeting was held in the framework of discussions on Article IV with the IMF mission in our country.
The issues discussed during this meeting were: macroeconomic developments, expectations for 2019 and the medium term, factors of economic growth; inflation and forecasts for returning inflation to target; the exchange rate and its performance; financial markets; banking system, its consolidation and financial indicators, banking supervision; lending performance and forecasts for 2019; non-performing loans, implementation of the inter-institutional plan for their reduction and measures being taken in this direction, expectations for 2019; the deferral package and the relevant measures; modernization of payment systems.
In the coming days, the IMF mission will hold meetings with senior executives at the Bank of Albania and the Ministry of Finance and Economy in order to discuss in detail the various issues related to the performance of the country’s economy.
