Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, meets the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary in Albania Sh.TZ Lóránt Balla

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko hosted today in an official meeting the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary in Albania, Mr. Lóránt Balla.

At the beginning of the meeting, Governor Sejko praised the very good historical relations, also focusing on the very fruitful bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Further, Governor Sejko focused on the economic developments of the country, where he said that the Albanian economy continued to move with a positive development trend, supported by the improvement of the foreign environment and the favorable financial conditions in the country. He stressed that recent figures show a fairly positive direction, yet the environment remains quite challenging and the need for further progress will continue to be on the attention of Albanian institutions.

Following, the Governor also focused on the very important process of Albania’s European membership. In this context, Sejko stressed that the support of a member country in the European Union, such as Hungary, remains of special importance for the opening of negotiations and full integration of Albania into the EU.

Regarding financial developments, the Governor underlined that the Albanian banking system remains well-capitalized, liquid and financially healthy, and the Bank of Albania will continue to exercise its regulatory role professionally, in function of its further development.

For his part, the Ambassador of Hungary emphasized the importance of implementing economic, structural and sectoral reforms, as well as appreciated the progress made by Albania in recent years. He stressed that thanks to this progress, Albania has already attracted the attention of many countries, especially in the field of tourism.

The Ambassador added that Hungarian investors have shown interest in investing in different sectors in Albania. He noted that this interest shown so far can serve to increase credibility and attract more investors from other countries in the future.

On the other hand, the Ambassador said that the continuation of reforms is a very important element, whose positive effects will positively influence the creation of a more attractive environment for foreign investors.

In conclusion, the interlocutors shared the same view on the prospects for further growth of economic cooperation between the two countries and mainly in the financial system, as well as in the growth of foreign investments in Albania.
