Deputy General Director of Taxation Xhavit Churri held the closing meeting with the International Monetary Fund assistance mission. The IMF mission headed by Mr. Steve Vesperman, Technical Assistance Advisor, consisted of Mr. Allan Jensen, an IMF expert on the South East Europe region, and other external experts, Mr. Michael O’Grady, Mr. Paul Duffus and Mrs. Telita Snyckers-Norgaard.
During his speech, Mr. Cuur thanked the IMF mission for the cooperation and assistance they are providing in achieving positive results in the modernization of the tax system. DPT, said Mr. Curri, there are already concrete indications that basic reforms such as the professional growth of human resources, processes and technology are yielding the right results.
For his part, Mr. Vesperman, praised the progress made by the Tax Administration, as well as the performance of fiscal indicators. He stressed the need to further the reforms initiated in order to achieve the highest standards.
The General Directorate of Taxation remains committed to continue the reform process through strategic plans that will ensure the implementation of best international practices, increased performance and voluntary compliance of taxpayers.
During his stay in Tirana, the IMF mission held meetings on various issues with the respective directorates at the GDT.
