Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj told a press conference with the head of the OSCE Secretariat Thomas Greminger that he is working on a successful Albanian Presidency of the Organization in 2020.
“For Albania, taking over the OSCE Presidency for 2020 is the most important process in the history of multilateral commitments since NATO membership,” Cakaj said.
Cakaj said that during the meeting with the Secretary General, they discussed elements of close cooperation that will continue during the Albanian Presidency 2020.
“We are working strongly on three aspects: political, financial and human resources. First, the political aspect is about finalizing priorities. Secondly, the government is making available all the financial resources necessary for the smooth running of the chairmanship. Thirdly, we have already appointed the best and most committed diplomats in both our Mission in Vienna and the Task Force established in Tirana for this purpose, ”said Cakaj.
Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj said that taking over the OSCE chairmanship is a great but deserved responsibility for Albania.
Cakaj also praised the work of the OSCE Presence in Tirana.
For his part, Thomas Greminger praised Albania’s preparations for the OSCE Chairmanship.
“I would like to appreciate Albania’s preparations and the setting of the right tone by Minister Cakaj when presenting the preliminary framework of priorities in Vienna,” Greminger said.
