Minister in charge of Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj emphasizes that the Poznan Summit should end with a powerful message for opening Albania’s negotiations in October.
Attending the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Western Balkan States with the Ministers of the EU Member States, supporting the Berlin Process, Cakaj urged the participating countries to express their readiness to support the opening of the negotiations with Albania.
Cakaj says the regional development development platform can not replace the EU enlargement process in the Western Balkans.
The acting Minister Cakaj writes on the social network Facebook that the meeting of foreign ministers in Poznan, Poland, focused on two main themes:
“The regional union in the service of the European integration process and the empowerment of civil society as an inevitable mechanism of promoting regional interaction,” writes Cakaj.
He says the Initiative, like RYCO and the Western Balkans Fund, are having a very positive impact on the Balkan interethnic reconciliation process. The acting Minister hails other achievements in the framework of regional cooperation.
“The agreement to reduce prices of roaming services, recognition of diplomas and academic qualifications, and support of other initiatives in the service of technological and digital skills will have a considerable effect on serving the overall professional development and deep customs interaction in regional level, “he writes.
Cakaj says involvement of civil society in the negotiating structures of interest is not simply an added value, but a fundamental obligation of the European path.
